Mountain Pygmy Owls
Photographer Leslie Leathers took this photograph in Madera Canyon, and submits this anecdote. “This photo is very special to me, as I waited for many hours to get these two Mountain Pygmy Owls looking out of their nests at the same time. They typically nest in cavities of trees, such as old woodpecker holes. Their diet consists of small birds, small mammals, insects, reptiles and amphibians.”
