Eliu Mendez joined NCAJ in August 2019. He has been practicing law for five years, with a focus on workers’ compensation. He lives in Greensboro with his wife, Bethany Mendez, and their 11-year-old pit bull, Eva.

What prompted you to join NCAJ?

The famed WC Listserv and CLEs. I wanted to find a group of people that have the answers I’m always seeking.

What career accomplishments are you most proud of so far?

Helping the disadvantaged find a way forward in their life after an injury that upends their life and destroys the only way they know how to make a living.

When you were 10 years old, did you want to be a lawyer when you grew up?

I grew up as part of a community that needed Spanish-speaking attorneys but could not find any. I knew then that I wanted to fulfill that need.

Describe a perfect day away from the office.

Turning off my email, finding somewhere new, and eating something different.
