DIY It’s a Noir thing ... Part of the fun of being in a band, especially in the early days, is doing all the bits and pieces that go with it. Designing the flyers, screenprinting the t-shirts by hand, creating the website, it’s all part and parcel of the buzz – even more so when the band’s two founding members are also award-winning designers, animators and illustrators. So when it came time to release Pop Noir’s first single, Joe and Luke McGarry did what they always do ... they did it all themselves. From writing, recording and producing the tracks, to setting up their own label and designing the artwork for the sleeves and poster, the brothers took care of every detail.They even co-directed the video and then pored over Final Cut Pro to edit it themselves. It couldn’t be more apt that Pop Noir’s debut single is called “DIY.” 2
