Combining fun and education for local families... Maidu Interpretive Center Indian Museum & Nature Learning Center Step back in time at the Maidu Interpretive Center and Historic Site! Graced by oak trees and beautiful creeks, the nature area offers a loop trail that takes you past ancient petroglyphs (rock art) and hundreds of bedrock mortars (acorn grinding holes), evidence of Nisenan (south- ern Maidu) occupation of the site for thousands of years. Families will have fun with high-tech, hands-on exhibits on a variety of topics ranging from renewable energy resources and energy efficiency, to water conservation and reducing solid waste and storm water pollution. Admission is free and hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and closed Mondays.
