GETTING AROUND CITY BUS More than 120 city-suburban bus routes offered by Metro Transit and regional bus services crisscross Minneapolis Saint Paul and serve such destinations as Mall of America and MSP International Airport. Fares range from 50 cents for downtown travel in non-rush hours to $3 for express travel in rush hours. A six-hour pass is available for $3.50 on weekends ($4 on weekdays) or buy a 24-hour pass for $6. TAXI To catch a cab, head to one of the designated taxi stands in downtown Minneapolis or Saint Paul, at the airport or at Mall of America. From other locations, you’ll need to call ahead, as passing cabs may be infrequent or in use.The average cost from the airport to either downtown runs between $26 and $44. LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT & NORTHSTAR COMMUTER LINE Light rail connects the airport and Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis. Nineteen stations serve passengers along the way, allowing easy access to Target Field, the Metrodome, Nicollet Mall, the Warehouse District and Mall of America. Ride fares are $2.25 for travel during rush hours and $1.75 for all other times. The Northstar Commuter Line connects downtown Minneapolis with northern suburbs like Coon Rapids and Big Lake. Our buses and light rail trains make getting to great destinations easy and stress free! If you’re traveling between the two downtowns, your best option is to take a Route 94 express bus, which offers fast and frequent service. Light rail train service is available from both airport terminals, providing an easy option if you’re headed to downtown Minneapolis. Trains leave roughly every 10 minutes during rush hours. It’s also a quick ride on light rail from the airport to Mall of America. For service to downtown Saint Paul, board a Route 54 bus at Terminal 1-Lindbergh. FARES Fares range from $1.75 to $3, depending on time of day and type of service.To transfer to another bus or to light rail, ask for a transfer, which is valid for unlimited rides for 2.5 hours. You can ride within the Minneapolis or Saint Paul Downtown Zones for only 50 cents at any time (transfers are not available). If you’re planning on riding a lot, buy a Day Pass.
