Such was the case with these homeowners, who were not aware how well inte-gration could help them manage and enjoy their new abode. The idea of implementing technology throughout their house was in fact met with much resistance. That is, until the homeowners real-ized that the company could actually eliminate equipment mounted on their walls and inside their cabinets via a digital distribution system for audio and video. Audio Video Interiors was therefore able to meet the clients’ needs for space efficiency, thermal management and energy usage. The system includes a 16X16 Crestron DigitalMedia system, delivering HD video and sound over fiber-optic wiring. At the time, Crestron’s DigitalMedia platform had only been shown at tradeshows, but Audio Video Interiors knew that centralized HD video and digital audio distribu-tion was the future and created the appropriate infrastructure to accommodate it. Now, the hom-eowner can view each source at any of the video displays or listen via 24 zones of audio. A Blu-ray-based Kaleidescape system allows the family to manage their growing movie collection, while three in-wall iPod docks and an AppleTV let them access their vast music collection. A Lutron HomeWorks lighting control system simplifies house-lighting operation, making it easier for the four small children to use and reducing energy consumption and cost. Likewise, the Panasonic phone system simplifies communication from one part of the home to another, making it easy for the homeowners to talk to their kids in another room.
