A year ago, brothers-in-law Barclay Brown and Dustin Rast acquired Tucson Cabinets, whose owners were retiring. With a 10-year history, it seemed to be a perfect matchup for their existing business. Brown has more than 13 years of experience in new home construction and real estate, while Rast has 10+ years designing, fabricating and installing granite and other stone countertops. The two entrepreneurs state that for both kitchen and bath remodels and new builds, they perform the fabrication and installation of the countertops, and offer three lines of cabinetry: Mid-Continent, UltraCraft and StarMark. This enables their customers to have “one-stop shopping,” rather than going back and forth between stone fabricators and cabinetmakers. Tucson Stoneworks’ designers can take the clients’ objective and budget for a project and create a customized plan to meet their needs. Tips and Trends •  New colors such as white and gray cabinets are popular. •  More customers are mixing different top and bottom cabinet colors and styles. •  The Carrara marble look has been a huge hit, but the material itself can be high-maintenance. Look-alike quartz products, however, are far more durable. •  Digital templating the customer’s countertop enables the fabrication process to be completely automated.
