1860S LIVING HISTORY ALL AGES $6 ADULTS/$4 AGES 5-11 • OLATHE RESIDENTS RECEIVE $1 OFF ADMISSION No registration needed Enjoy 1860s Living history activities such as stagecoach rides, cookstove and blacksmith demonstrations and visit the Mahaffie House. Start your visit in the Heritage Center to view videos and exhibits about the Mahaffie family and Johnson County. The Olathe Historical Society has an exhibit featuring Olathe History. End your visit by purchasing a souvenir in the Mahaffie Market located in the Heritage Center. Active Military receive up to 5 free admissions with ID as part of the Blue Star Museums Program during these summer months. MEMORIAL DAY-LABOR DAY WEDNESDAYS-SATURDAYS 10AM TO 4PM, SUNDAYS NOON TO 4PM FAMILY FUN NIGHTS ALL AGES JUNE AND JULY THURSDAYS, 6-8 P.M. FREE ALL AGES Enjoy an evening on the farm with a different theme each week. Each night will include stagecoach rides, 1860s living history activities and hands-on activities. A small fee may be charged for some activities. Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy under the Mahaffie tent. 6/5: Kansas Cowboys; 6/12: Horse Power; 6/19: Border War; 6/26: Hit the Trail! 7/3, 19th Century Independence Day (see below) 7/10: Civil War; 7/17: Wonders of Victorian Science; 7/24: Kansas Wheat Harvest (date subject to change based on crops) & 7/31: County Fair No registration needed, no minimum or maximum numbers DAY OUT WITH FRANK AND ELLA AGES PRESCHOOL AND UP JUNE AND JULY: WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M. (NO DAY OUT WEEK OF JULY 4TH) $5/YOUTH, ACCOMPANYING ADULTS FREE 19TH CENTURY FIREWORKS & OLATHE CIVIC BAND ALL AGES THURSDAY, JULY 3, 6 P.M. UNTIL DARK FREE NO REGISTRATION NEEDED, NO MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM NUMBERS Mahaffie Preschools, day cares and other youth groups or individual are invited to attend these drop-in summer fun sessions. Participants will enjoy a different theme week with hands-on activities, crafts, and a stagecoach ride (paying youth only). The theme changes each week but features the same activities Wednesday and Thursday: Themes are subject to change so please call ahead for latest information. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to register and payment is due for how many are attending. 6/4 & 6/5-Kick It with Kansas Cowboys! 6/11 & 6/12-Horse Power; 6/18 & 6/19-Civil War; 6/25 & 6/26-Hit the Trail!; 7/9 & 7/10-Civil War; 7/16 & 7/17-Wonders of Victorian Science; 7/23 & 7/24 Kansas Wheat Harvest; 7/30 & 7/31-County Fair No sessions July 2 & July 3. Celebrate Olathe by starting the evening off with the Community Center Grand Opening. The join the Olathe Civic Band for a concert followed by 19th century fireworks by the Olathe Fire Department. Show your American pride and bring your decorated bike/stroller/wagon. Bring your lawn chairs, blanket and picnic dinner to enjoy this patriotic celebration. Fireworks will begin at dark. Free admission; a small fee may be charged for some activities. INDEPENDENCE DAY ALL AGES $6 ADULTS/$4 AGES 5-11 • OLATHE RESIDENTS RECEIVE $1 OFF ADMISSION Enjoy a reading of the Declaration of Independence at noon, see what is cooking Mrs. Mahaffie’s cookstove, visit the blacksmith, and take a stagecoach ride.
