Up Front Not To Be Missed » Tucson Festival of Books BIBLIOPHILES UNITE AND HEAD DOWN TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA on March 15 and 16 to “get your fix” at the Tucson Festival of Books. From 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days, you’ll be able to visit more than 400 presenters (authors, illustrators, science experts, entertainers, etc.). Author/illustrator presentations are followed by book signings at nearby locations, including at a number of exhibitor booths. Kids and parents can enjoy an expanded Children’s area, Culinary Tent and hands-on, kid-focused Science City and family friendly Literary Circus. New for 2014 is a Mexican Author Pavilion present-ed by the UA’s Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry. The Festival will host more than 260 exhib-itors, including those representing small pub-lishing houses, book-related products and services, booksellers and educational pro-grams. The list of confirmed participants includes best-selling authors Scott Turow, Kathy Reichs, and Dr. Andrew Weil; Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo; mystery writ-er Craig Johnson; and even former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. This sixth annual event will be centered on the UA Mall, with most presentations taking place in classrooms and meeting halls along the mall. The Festival is sponsored by The University of Arizona and the Arizona Daily Star ; University of Arizona Medical Center is the Festival’s presenting sponsor. Admission to the Festival of Books is free, as is parking. Proceeds from sponsor support for this nonprofit event go to support local lit-eracy efforts.
